These photos are a bit old, but we think the statute of limitations on gang beating a McSecurity guard with a square and compass is up.... so we give you a tour of Detroit's Masonic Temple.



This bitch was wide open, 'cause we had the keys.

The Masonic Temple in Detroit is the largest structure of its kind in the world, with three theaters (one unfinished), an indoor swimming pool (also never finished), multiple ballrooms & dining rooms, a floating drill hall, a power plant capable of supporting a small city of 50,000 people, and over 1000 rooms.

The main theater is huge, and has the second largest stage in the nation.



The White Stripes have played the smaller theater a few times....



whereas the unfinished theater has only been used in practicing secret Masonic rites and plays when the other theaters were in use.



A trip to the pool came up with no water and a lone plastic goose.....



....but most interesting were the different secret rooms where the lodge meetings are held. Notice the surprising lack of sacrificial blood on this altar.



The Egyptian Room - definitely the place to be in Detroit when sacrificing virgins to God.

Sunday found us setting our sights a little lower than usual, and we ended up in some busted up, mostly unremarkable diner in the heart of downtown.....

D ripped that door up with his bare hands. Who needs Kevlar gloves?



Nothing too exciting to be found -pretty standard diner decor....



....and a toilet slightly nicer than City Club's.



In the basement, a pipe was busted and the floor was under several inches of water.



About the only truly interesting thing in the place was the dropped ceiling that once concealed some really cool, gigantic lights.



It pisses me off when people hide interesting details with dropped ceilings, or brick over spaces where windows and doors once were. Reminds me of the knob that previously owned my house, and painted over all the wood trim. I'm sure to have gotten lead poisoning from having sanded that mess down.

9 girls from Stone Henge, lost on their way from Toronto to Chicago, made a stop in Hamtramck for directions and got their bus stuck in the alley behind Paychecks.



Since they weren't going anywhere anyways, they played a show to a nearly eMpTy house.



While we appreciated the skimpy clothing.....



and the girl on girl action....



what we were really hoping for was an invitation onto the bus to find out once for all, just what in the hell spotted dick is.
