Thanksgiving

I spent Thanksgiving in North Carolina and took surprisingly few pictures. Maybe it was all the deep friend turkey that kept me from getting out the camera. Or possibly the deep fried dill pickles. Actually, I'm almost positive it was the deep fried cheesecake. Apparently, in North Carolina, nothing that batter will stick to escapes the deep fryer.

Spent a day bumming around a beach town called Kure Beach and ran into a girl named Noelle from the Woodbridge area of Detroit. She recognized my WDET hoodie and struck up a conversation. Just in case you're reading this, North Carolina doesn't deserve you. Their radio sucks, except for the all Mexican all the time station. That was fun and reminded me of listening to the radio in Chiapas, Mexico while waiting in line at different security checkpoints.

After dark, we headed toward Wilmington to see some famous battleship, the North Carolina. We knew it'd be closed, but wanted to see it anyway. No lights = no pictures, but I did pee off the bridge leading up to the main deck. I try to avoid public urination, but it was the best story I'd get of the ship seeing as how it was closed down for the night.

We ended up in bar and caught a local metal show. Interesting crowd: a couple goth kids, a bunch of preppy girls, and one 'the South will Rise Again' type.

One of the bands played a cover of Nintendo's Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I loved beating the crap out of ol' Mike as a kid.

North Carolina graffiti artists have a long way to go.......
